After the heat and humidity of the coast it was quite refreshing to experience 2 days in the Colombian capital Bogotá.
I think it certainly helped with getting used to the high altitude - I still found walking up one flight of stairs on the first day weirdly exhausting. I just had no energy at all. We stayed in an Air BNB in Zona Rosa (a late night find before we travelled after our booking.com apartment cancelled last minute). It was a fortuitous move as we had 24 security to let us in or out (or help with a locksmith when the door lock jammed one night). We also felt safe walking the local area day or night. After settling in on day one we headed down in to the old town area to explore the plazas, Gold Museum and head up Montserrate for the expansive views across the massive city as sun started to set. Dinner that night was literally across the road as a Famiglia Pizzeria https://www.famigliapizzeria.co where had some delicious (surprise surprise) pizza and I had a rare glass of cold white wine. Rare because it doesn’t usually prove to be good and it is usually 7 x the price of a local beer (NZ$2-5 in a restaurant). If anyone apart from my family is reading this and wants to know costs for anything on our trip. any itinerary suggestions or anything else related to planning a three month trip, feel free to get in touch via DM on fourswims Facebook or Instagram. The next day gave us time to visit a local mall and play arcade games (Rob and I cleaned up in table football and the girls rode well on the bikes) before a tasty taco lunch at Renata http://www.renatatacos.com. Next stop Suesca for some rock climbing 🧗♀️ adventures
